Delivering health via phone & video
Start Your Whole-Body Cancer Care...From Home!
When you have cancer, much of your time is spent traveling to and being at appointments. One of our goals at the Bernard Integrative Cancer Center is to help you to be more comfortable and to feel like you're at home. We do this by providing a home-like environment at our clinic, and also by offering you to carry out your appointments from the comforts of your own home! When possible, we provide our services through telehealth, which is phone and video consultations.
Telehealth is simple.
1) First, in order to ensure that delivering care by video or phone is a good way for you to receive your care, you must first book a free 15-minute Alignment Call. During this call, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and health goals with Dr Bernard and she will assess the best way to deliver your care.
2) Second, you will be booked for your initial visit via telehealth by Dr Bernard or our admin team. You will receive a booking confirmation email where you will be asked to quickly set up your account and to fill out your intake forms.
3) Before your appointment, you will be sent an email. In this email, there will be a link for you to click to sign in to your previously set-up online account, which will connect you to your video/call.
That's it! You're connected! No downloads or anything. We hope to "see" you soon!

What To Expect With Telehealth
During this call, you will be asked to outline your health condition(s) and concern(s) with Dr Bernard. She will explore your health goals and determine if and how naturopathic, whole-body cancer support will be of benefit to your particular needs and desires.
You can expect your first consultation to involve a thorough intake and preliminary treatment recommendations. Your initial appointment is 75 minutes.
General recommendations will likely be made regarding nutrition, exercise, and supplementation.
Individualized medicine means investigating and reviewing your unique biochemistry and physiology. If you have a copy of your health records, we will review it to determine a more personalized approach.
Medication/supplement interactions and nutrient depletions are also investigated.
Your plan may involve prescriptions in your initial visit that will be further refined after we have the opportunity to review any test results that may be easily available. Often, your therapeutic plan will involve dietary changes, targeted supplementation, and/or lifestyle modifications like sleep hygiene, stress reduction techniques, and exercise advice. We will now have the beginnings of a solid foundation to optimize your health in a sustainable way.
Please note that you will require multiple visits for optimal results.
We will adjust our protocols based on your conventional treatment plan, side effects experienced, and your body's physiological needs.
Wellness is a journey, not a destination. When we work together over time, we will consistently be refining your treatment plan to address and meet your ongoing goals, needs, and aspirations. The goal is to always get you to a place of pro-activity and prevention – way beyond just the status quo. We will follow you from diagnosis, through treatment, and into recovery and secondary prevention.
